(US Tax Associate - Preparer)
Prepare complete and accurate U.S. individual income tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules) for expatriate clients using CCH tax software.
Analyze client financial information and residency status to determine applicable tax treatments, exclusions, credits, and reporting requirements.
Handle end-to-end tax return preparation, including income reporting, foreign earned income exclusion (FEIE), foreign tax credits (FTC), and treaty positions where applicable.
Prepare and review international information returns such as FBAR (FinCEN 114), Form 8938, 2555, 1116, and other foreign asset reporting forms.
Communicate with clients via email to obtain required documents, clarify tax positions, and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
Ensure compliance with U.S. federal tax laws and IRS regulations, particularly those affecting Americans living abroad.
Identify potential tax issues, risks, or missing information and proactively follow up with clients to ensure accurate and timely filing.
Document tax positions taken and maintain organized digital workpapers within the firm’s systems.
Collaborate with senior tax advisors on complex cases involving multi-country income, foreign corporations, or treaty interpretations.
Maintain strict confidentiality and data security standards when handling sensitive client financial information.
Stay updated on changes in U.S. tax laws affecting expatriates and apply new guidance to client returns.
